An ECG (electrocardiogram) is a quick, painless test that records the electrical activity of your heart. Small sticky sensors are placed on your skin while you lie still for a few minutes. There are no needles, and your appointment takes around 15 minutes. Your ECG shows the rhythm and rate of your heart, and can help identify problems such as arrhythmias, coronary heart disease, signs of a previous heart attack and cardiomyopathy. What To Know Before Your Appointment
Skincare
Please avoid skin creams/oils as this may affect how well the electrodes stick to your skin. It may be necessary to remove hairs on the chest where electrodes are to be placed to aid in sticking, you may prefer to remove this hair prior to the appointment or the phlebotomist can do this for you during the appointment if necessary.
Expect the Visit to Last 30 Minutes
Each visit lasts about 15 minutes, though we recommend you give yourself a 30 minute window for check-in, wait times and more.
