Why Get Tested
Bowel cancer also known as colorectal cancer is the 4th most common cancer in the UK with over 40,000 new cases each year.
Your risk of developing bowel cancer depends on many factors including age, genetics and lifestyle. You may be at higher risk if a parent, sibling or child had been diagnosed with bowel cancer. The risk is increased further if more than one relative has been diagnosed with the condition.
Cancer Research UK estimate that 54% of bowel cancer cases are preventable. If your family history or a genetic test shows you have a higher risk of bowel cancer, there may be ways to reduce that risk including regular screening, lifestyle changes and risk reducing surgery.
