Why Get Tested

A gene mutation could mean you have a higher risk of developing a hereditary cancer. You may recognise some of these specific patterns within your family history which could indicate an inherited cancer risk:

  • Diagnosis of cancer at a young age
  • Someone in your family having multiple types of cancer
  • Several close family members being diagnosed with the same or related cancers
  • Consecutive generations of cancer diagnosis in your family

If a genetic variant linked to cancer is found there are options available to help reduce the risk of developing cancer;

  • Lifestyle changes
  • Regular screening and health checks
  • In some cases – risk reducing surgery

If you find you have a genetic variant that increases your risk of developing an inherited cancer, then this may have an impact on other members of your family. Close family members may need to be informed and offered testing.

Our Randox Health Genetic Counsellor will guide and support you throughout testing process and are available to explain your results and advise on next steps.

Pre-Consultation Recommendations

Still unsure on if this is the test for you? With an initial £100 fee, arrange a telephone call (or a virtual call if requested) with a genetic counsellor for you to ask questions, discuss topics such as:

  • Family History – Who has been affected and when it was found?
  • Previous genetic testing done & why.
  • Process of the genetic testing services, what genes will be tested and turnaround times.
  • Implications of the test.

From this discussion, you'll have an expert recommendation on what package to go forward with as well as your £100 back as a discount code to take off the package of your choice.
