Most STIs take some time to appear after a sexual encounter. Testing too soon might not give you accurate results, so it’s best to wait at least 14 days before taking a standard STI test. For HIV - it is recommended to wait 6 weeks after possible exposure, for Hepatitis - it is recommended to wait 3 months after possible exposure and for Syphilis we recommend waiting 3-6 weeks after suspected exposure. For urine tests, make sure it’s been at least 2 hours since you last went to the bathroom. And if you’re on your period, please wait until its finished before booking your STI test.
